Cats also have their own endocannabinoid system and can benefit from CBD. However, we strongly advise against giving our products to cats.
Unfortunately, cats cannot tolerate certain terpenes, and our full-spectrum hemp oil contains terpenes, which can be toxic to cats. Unlike dogs or humans, cats’ metabolisms cannot process certain terpenes (or can only do so very slowly) because they lack the enzymes needed to break them down. This buildup can then lead to terpene poisoning.
Unfortunately, the sale of products containing isolated CBD (e.g., pure, chemically produced CBD oil) for animals is not legally permitted in Germany. However, if you’re still looking for pure CBD oil for your cat, you can try searching online for products intended for humans.
Generally speaking, pure CBD oil lacks the so-called entourage effect, which arises from the interaction of key plant compounds (keyword: full-spectrum) and thus produces a more optimized and diverse range of effects. We would never recommend this type of oil for humans or dogs, but for cats, it is simply the safest option.
