More and more manufacturers are flooding the market with their CBD products. While CBD was virtually unknown in Germany just a few years ago, it’s now on everyone’s lips. Many people have discovered CBD for themselves and trust in its positive effects on the body and mind—including for their beloved pets.
But the differences in quality are enormous—just as is the uncertainty among pet owners about which products are truly worth the price.
In this article, we’ll show you what to look for when buying CBD oil for dogs and how to spot high-quality products!

1. CBD oil for dogs should be full-spectrum CBD oil
High-quality CBD oils for dogs are characterized by the fact that they contain the full spectrum of the hemp plant, meaning that in addition to CBD, they also contain all other beneficial cannabinoids such as CBG and CBN, as well as terpenes, flavonoids, vitamins, minerals, and the legally permitted amount of THC (so-called full-spectrum oil).
The body is best able to absorb and utilize oils that reflect the full spectrum of the hemp plant in its natural balance. This is because this composition creates what is known as the “entourage effect,” whereby the individual components complement each other perfectly and produce valuable synergies.
Nacani ’s CBD oil is a full-spectrum oil made from 100% “hemp juice.” The entire hemp plant—including the leaves, stems, and seeds—is processed during production. This preserves the full spectrum of the hemp plant in the highest quality. All ingredients are retained. This results in ideal bioavailability, meaning the active ingredient can be optimally utilized by your dog and have a positive effect on its body and mind.
2. CBD oil for dogs should be dark in color

Another sign of high quality in CBD oils is a dark color. This suggests that the product still contains as many of the hemp plant’s natural, high-quality components as possible.
In many of the oils available on the market, all plant components and bitter compounds have been filtered out. These oils, which are usually produced using CBD extracts or isolates, are typically clear and transparent.
What are CBD extracts?
In the case of extracts, the valuable components of the hemp plant are separated from the plant material. The most common method for this is CO₂ extraction, in which liquid carbon dioxide is passed under pressure through the plant material to dissolve the components.
What are CBD isolates?
In the case of isolates—as the name suggests—the CBD is “isolated” from all other compounds, and all other beneficial components are filtered out. Isolates therefore contain only the pure cannabinoid CBD and none of the other active compounds found in the hemp plant.
CBD extracts and isolates form the basis of many CBD products for human use. To produce CBD oil, CBD extracts or isolates are often mixed with a carrier oil, such as flaxseed or hemp seed oil. While this results in a high CBD content, the desired effect is often not achieved because the body often has difficulty absorbing these products.
The use of CBD extracts and CBD isolates, which are significantly cheaper to produce, is not currently officially approved for veterinary use—though this does not mean they are not available for purchase on the market. These products are usually labeled as “care oil for external use” to circumvent the ban on their use as animal feed.
To produce our nacani oil, the industrial hemp plant “Cannabis Sativa” is gently cold-pressed in its entirety—including the leaves, stems, and seeds. This is why the oil has its dark color. It also contains no carrier oil whatsoever.

3. CBD oil for dogs should be made from high-quality ingredients
A processed product can only be as good as the raw materials used to make it. Therefore, the quality of a CBD oil also depends on using only healthy and robust hemp plants and ensuring that no pesticides or other plant protection products are used during cultivation, as these too could compromise the quality of the final product.
Nacani places the highest priority on product quality. Naturally, this commitment to quality also extends to all raw materials used in production.
4. CBD oil for dogs should be regularly tested by independent laboratories
Finally, customers should also be able to verify the quality and composition of a good CBD oil.
Maximum transparency on the part of the manufacturer, achieved through regular independent laboratory analyses and the publication of the results, is essential.
