Hemp Oil vs. CBD Oil – What's the Difference?
First things first: hemp oil and CBD oil are not the same thing. Although both products are derived from the hemp plant, their production processes and uses differ.
What is hemp oil?
Hemp oil is often used as a general term for all oils produced from the hemp plant. Strictly speaking, however, hemp oil refers only to the oil extracted from the seeds of the hemp plant. For this reason, it is also frequently called “hemp seed oil.” It contains many valuable nutrients, such as

The seeds of the hemp plant do not contain cannabinoids, as these only develop as the plant grows. Therefore, traditional hemp oil contains neither CBD nor THC.

Hemp oil is primarily used as a cooking oil. It’s important to note that it’s not suitable for frying. It has a slightly nutty flavor, making it particularly popular as a salad dressing.
Hemp oil is also commonly used in skincare and is found, for example, in some body lotions.

Hemp oil is not a drug or a medical device, so it’s not really accurate to speak of any specific therapeutic effects. Nevertheless, hemp oil provides the body with many important nutrients and thus contributes to a healthy diet. In particular, the essential unsaturated fatty acids found in hemp oil can have a positive effect on the body.
What is CBD oil?
Most CBD oils consist of a carrier oil—such as flaxseed, coconut, or olive oil—to which CBD extracts or isolates are added. These are derived from the flowers and leaves of the female hemp plant, as this is where all the important cannabinoids are found.

Unlike pure hemp oil, CBD oils—as the name suggests—contain CBD. However, they may contain only a small amount of THC, specifically 0.2%.

CBD oil is taken orally. It works best when dripped directly under the tongue, where it is absorbed through the mucous membranes. Alternatively, it can of course be taken with food or drinks.
